Knitwear Care Guide
Most of our knitwear garments are made from Merino wool, a type of wool beloved for its luxurious softness, warmth, and durability. Sourced from the Merino breed of sheep, Merino wool is renowned for its fine fibres, imbuing it with exceptional breathability and moisture-wicking properties that help to regulate temperature, ensuring comfort in both cool and warm climates.
To uphold the quality and longevity of your Merino wool garment, proper care is essential. Here are some tips to ensure just that:
Washing & Drying
When it comes to washing, it's best to hand wash your Merino wool garment in cool water using a mild detergent specifically designed for woollens. Avoid using hot water or harsh chemicals, as they can cause the fibres to shrink or become damaged. Gently squeeze the jumper to remove excess water, being careful not to wring or twist it, which could distort its shape.
After washing, reshape the jumper while it's still damp, laying it flat on a towel to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Avoid hanging the garment as this can stretch it out of shape, so it's crucial to handle it with care during the drying process.
Ironing
Once dry, you can lightly steam the garment to remove any wrinkles, using a garment steamer or an iron set to the wool setting with steam.
Storing
When it comes to storage, fold your Merino wool garment neatly and place it in a breathable garment bag or drawer to protect it from dust and moths. Avoid hanging it for extended periods, as this can cause stretching and distortion of the fabric. Additionally, it's a good idea to store your jumper with cedar balls or sachets to deter moths naturally.
