Monty Care Guide
Your Original Monty Duffle Coat, crafted from a blend of 90% wool and 10% polyamide, combines the natural warmth and durability of wool with the added resilience of polyamide.
To maintain the quality and prolong the lifespan of your beloved coat, proper care is essential. Here are some tips to ensure just that:
Cleaning & Drying
When it comes to cleaning your Monty Duffle Coat, it’s best to spot clean stains promptly with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For more thorough cleaning, we recommend dry cleaning to preserve the integrity of the wool blend. Avoid washing your coat in a washing machine, as the agitation and harsh detergents can cause shrinkage and damage to the fibres.
After cleaning, it's crucial to air dry your duffle coat thoroughly. Lay it flat on a clean towel in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Avoid hanging the coat while damp, as this can cause stretching and misshaping. Once dry, gently reshape the coat if needed and store it properly.
Ironing
Once dry, you can lightly steam the garment to remove any wrinkles, using a garment steamer or an iron set on the lowest setting.
Storing
When storing your duffle coat, ensure it's clean and completely dry to prevent mold and mildew growth. Hang it on a sturdy padded hanger to maintain its shape, avoiding wire hangers that can cause stretching. Alternatively, you can fold the coat neatly and store it in a breathable garment bag to protect it from dust and moths. Adding cedar balls or sachets to the storage area can also help deter pests naturally.
Maintenance
Regularly brush your duffle coat with a soft garment brush to remove any surface dirt and lint, paying special attention to the hood and cuffs where dirt tends to accumulate. Avoid using harsh brushes or abrasive materials that can damage the fabric. Additionally, check the coat for loose toggles or threads, repairing them promptly to prevent further damage.
